SwissFone International Ltd., a global provider of retail and wholesale telecommunications services, announced that it has completed the previously announced business combination transaction with Alliance Group Services, Inc. Terms of the letter of intent were not disclosed.
SwissFone, established in 2002 through the management buyout of Swisscom North America, is a leading global provider of international wholesale voice services. Alliance is a leading provider of domestic and international network services to telecommunications resellers and CLECs.
“This is an excellent opportunity for SwissFone,” said Rajiv Sharma, Chief Executive Officer of SwissFone. “Combining forces with Alliance would improve SwissFone’s ability to deliver high quality, cost competitive international voice and data services. In addition, the combination would allowSwissFone to offer new products and services to its global customers,” Mr. Sharma added.
“Leveraging SwissFone’s global relationships would allow us to better provide international services to our existing customer base, as well as expand our market reach through a stronger and more diversified product portfolio,” said Tom Coughlin, Chairman of Alliance.
SwissFone has an established network of international carrier partners in North America, Europe, Asia, and Latin America. With over 125 international routes, SwissFone is able to provide high quality international voice termination to its global customers. SwissFone also has operations in India where it provides VoIP-based services to call centers, enterprises, and prepaid calling card customers.
Alliance, through its unique relationship with the leading global long distance carrier, is a provider of domestic and international wholesale voice services including long distance, toll-free services, prepaid calling cards, frame relay, and conference calling.
“The combination of Alliance’s extensive domestic network and SwissFone’s strong international network would greatly enhance the services available to our combined customer base,” said Mr. Sharma. “Moreover, the combination would result in a stronger consolidated financial position for both companies,” added Mr. Coughlin.
